Sizing
Surface Sizing Agent
Hydrophobation and improved surface performance for paper, packaging and board grades.

Overview
Surface Sizing Agent is applied to the surface of paper or board to modify surface characteristics for conversion and end-use requirements. It supports hydrophobicity, water hold-out and ink resistance while helping improve printability and converting performance. Surface sizing can also reduce reliance on internal sizing and support efficient paper-machine operation. Sizes of this kind are typically hydrophobic styrene-acrylic copolymer dispersions applied at the size press alongside starch; as the starch film dries, the copolymer migrates toward the surface so its hydrophobic groups face outward, which is the mechanism behind the water hold-out it provides.
